IOTA's initial focus was on the design and manufacture of low voltage solid-state ballasts for fluorescent applications. The IOTA DC ballast design gained national recognition when it was selected in a national competition by NASA for use aboard SKYLAB, performing flawlessly through all missions. Today, IOTA is a pioneer and leader in the lighting industry, designing and manufacturing state-of-the-art emergency lighting equipment for commercial, institutional, national, and international applications. Additionally, IOTA's product line has expanded to include AC/DC power conversion and battery charging equipment used in vehicular, recreational, solar, industrial, and telecommunication markets.
